Now these downloads came storming in at 100-155mbps - the sort of speed we were expecting using the Virgin Fibre unlimited connection via Ethernet. We wondered whether it was the connection, so we checked by downloading large downloads from Acronis and other reliable, fast servers. Unexpectedly the movie downloads were only able to acheive a maximum download speed of around 30-50mbps when downloading from the iTunes store. I trotted over to his work where he is IT admin, and we plugged in after work hours when we were the only ones connected. Then, my friend invited me over with my computer so I could take advantage of his 100mbps fibre connection. I have just reinstalled Windows, iTunes and all my apps again, and as expected, there is no change in the download speed (still around 4.5mbps. On the DSL connection of about 4.5mbps it takes around 3 hours to download an HD movie, which is what I sortof expect living out of town. For a number of years I have been successfully purchasing Movies from the iTunes store.
